Dissertation!
Apologies for the lack of entries for the past month or so, a dissertation is a lot more work than i realised! Don't worry i'll make up for it over the next few weeks....
So my dissertation is a lot of work. But, i'm acutally enjoying it. The lack of lectures is fantastic (one a week), and the freedom to choose when I want to work is so much fun! I can choose to go out any night of the week and then have a lie in! Of course, writing the damn thing is taking up a lot of time.....It's supposed to be about 15000 words by the end of it. That might not sound like a lot, but most peoples projects are on such a specified area of science that they end up struggling a bit! Of course, there are the people who end up the complete opposite with giant 25000 thesis things. Wouldn't wanna be marking their dissertations, thats for sure!
As well as my dissertation work the usual social life has been carrying on nicely. We recently had our big annual scavenger hunt event called 'Scav'. Teams of students race round Nottinghams bars trying to collect points by doing random things (everything from downing a pint to being wrapped up to someone else with clingfilm....and a whole lot of stuff in between!).
At the moment everyone is getting very excited about the christmas medics ball. This year it's themed on Arabia and apparantly there will be belly dancers and fire eaters there as long as the usual fireworks and posh meal. Everyone loves medic's balls.
Can you believe my term finishes on the 22nd December though? Talk about working us hard! And I just found out this year I only get 2 days of for easter!!! Still, only 3 months until the clincial course starts and my year is SO ready. We've had just about as much of transcription factors and enzymes and dissertations as we can take!
